“A powerful, authentic, talented and above all soulful new entry in the rootsy singer/songwriter ranks.”
– American Songwriter Magazine

I recorded a new full-length album of classic soul, R&B and pop in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, at the historic FAME Recording Studios which includes nine classics originally recorded by singers including Etta James, Otis Redding, Laura Lee, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan, plus three new originals that I wrote for the project.

“An effortless blend of roots, country, and blues – with a touch of R&B.”
– Boston Globe

“Black’s shop-worn vocals, intricate arrangements and soulful instrumentation make her an artist well worth watching.”
– Relix Magazine

American Songwriter Magazine calls Amy Black “a powerful, authentic, talented and above all soulful new entry in the rootsy singer/songwriter ranks;” while the Philadelphia Inquirer  calls her ” an appealing cross between Bonnie Raitt and Mary Chapin Carpenter” with “songs that mix substance and accessibility.” A Boston-based artist with storytelling and southern tradition in her blood, Amy has shared stages with artists including Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Delbert McClinton, Chris Isaak, Suzy Boggus, Joey Ely, and the Courtyard Hounds. Her seamless blend of all things Americana, coupled with her soulful, smooth vocals and gift for bringing characters to life through song make her an artist that pleases lovers of blues, folk, soul and country alike. Amy’s two most recent releases include “The Muscle Shoals Session” EP with special guest, original Muscle Shoals Swamper, Spooner Oldham and her new 2014 full length album of original music, “This Is Home,” features Will Kimbrough (Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris) and Oliver Wood of the Wood Brothers.
