First Place – 2016 River Cities Blues Competition, Marietta,OH

“Chris Sutton is an Appalachian Blues treasure. A walking, talking, singing, guitar playing cocktail of good ‘ol Hill music and Country Blues.”

– Jackie Welker, Director of the Pomeroy Blues & Jazz Society

“With a voice that sounds as whiskey-soaked as the bottom of a barroom bottle and a guitar approach that alternately weeps, wails and wallops, Chris Sutton is one of West Virginia’s most expressive blues artists. On ‘The Sun Studio Recordings,’ he plows through 18 original songs that evoke the themes, moods and soul-searing intensity of the genre’s classic material.”

– Ken Bays – past editor of Blues Revue magazine

Chris Sutton is a screamin’ and hollerin’, croonin blues and roots performer. He brings his audiences classic acoustic blues and a catalogue of originals that will blow your mind.

Chris Sutton has been playing his blues and roots songs from his home in West Virginia, around the region, and all the way to Italy, India and Nepal for the past decade. He is a talented songwriter, a powerful singer, and versatile guitar player.

He was befriended by and mentored by the late great Nat “The WV Bluesman” Reese, and was fortunate enough to play with him many times during the past decade up until his passing in 2012.

He completed his first official collection of songs at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis TN. “The Sun Studio Recordings”, is Chris alone with his guitar playing the 18 best songs of his blues and roots catalogue and it has been very well received.
