With a voice described as “pure folk,” Lucy Isabel has been charming audiences across the country since making her debut in Nashville in January 2015.
Originally from New Jersey, Isabel spent her childhood and adolescence performing as an actress, primarily in music theater productions . This led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in Theater Studies from Yale University in May of 2014. During her senior year of college she performed with one of Yale’s professional a cappella groups, Whim ‘n Rhythm. As a result, Isabel decided to switch her focus from a career in acting to a career in music.
Since her move to Nashville, Isabel has played countless shows in venues across the city. She released her debut EP, Along The Way, in February 2016. The EP was a turning point in her career, as it enabled her to get out on the road and share her music with audiences outside of Nashville. In February 2017, Isabel released a follow up EP entitled KANE. This album marked a notable growth in her storytelling, focusing on her maternal grandmother’s family. “I never knew any of the people that I wrote about for KANE. Each one of them is a part of me, but the stories I tell about them are mostly stories that were passed down to me. I was interested in the successes and failures of oral history and KANEwas a way for me to express that interest,” the artist says.
Isabel’s most recent release, a single called “California Coming Down,” is a new sonic approach for the artist, but it holds true to her commitment to strong lyrics and a driving melody. All of her releases are available on all major online distribution platforms. Lucy Isabel tours nationally full-time. If you’re interested in seeing her play live, visit lucyisabelmusic.com/live.
