Grass powered boogie!

Fresh growth on the bluegrass family tree comes from Asheville, NC’s Brushfire Stankgrass. The band has significant crossover appeal with bluegrass/newgrass and jam rock fans alike, showcasing their “modern mountain fusion” with a dynamic live show and a two award-winning albums. Stankgrass blends the traditional with a grassy fusion inflected by analog-electronics and a hard hitting rhythm section.

Despite the fact that the band is not a “strictly traditional” bluegrass band, Brushfire Stankgrass currently holds the #1 global ranking in the bluegrass category on reverbnation.com. Their sophomore release Microclimates debuted at #2 in Relix Magazine’s jamband radio charts and was named as one of WNCW’s top 100 releases of 2013. The album charted in the top 25 for 6 months. The debut album One For the Salamanders was featured in Relix Magazine’s top radio airplay charts in 2011, climbing as high as #2 and staying in the top 5 for 3 months. The two founding members (Ben and Will Saylor, banjo and guitar) are brothers who have been playing music since the age of three. Together with a rhythm section comprised of Micah Thomas on drums and Daniel Iannucci on bass (both are seasoned and well known Asheville musicians), the group’s chemistry is obvious.
