From the movie: Love Song for Bobby Long:

Alabama troubadour Grayson Capps brings his seventh studio album, Heartbreak, Misery & Death, to life in an intimate duo performance. The album explores 16 long-lost folk songs and traditionals—from Doc Watson and Jerry Jeff Walker to Randy Newman and Gordon Lightfoot—that shaped Capps’ musical upbringing. Introduced to these timeless tunes by his father, Capps’ early exposure to Southern storytelling, rich harmonies, and haunting melodies would go on to define his own Southern Gothic voice.

From learning “Columbus Stockade Blues” on his first guitar to harmonizing on Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” with family and friends, Capps’ music traces the line between heartbreak and joy, grief and celebration. In this stripped-down duo setting, he reimagines these songs with intimacy and power, honoring the stories, emotions, and traditions that have shaped a lifetime of music.

Grayson Capps hailed by NPR’s Mountain Stage for his “unbridled energy and authenticity,” hails from Fairhope, AL though spent many years as an artist based in New Orleans, LA. American Songwriter declares, “Take the poetry of Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt, combine with Steve Earle’s edgy attitude and stir with a little cup of the bayou-blues (think Howlin’ Wolf) and you start to get a taste of Capps’s scrumptious gothic gumbo.” His latest CD, Scarlett Roses, dropped in 2018 making waves on the Americana scene.
