Alex Mendenall is a soul/folk songwriter from Lansing, MI. Drawing from folk, soul, and jazz, Mendenall’s sound is eclectic and engaging. It could probably be best described as a combination of Fleet Foxes and Jason Mraz. His songs are reflections of life that feature carefully crafted lyrics and rich chord progressions. Mendenall supports his guitar and vocals with dynamic foot percussion.
Alex Mendenall began performing in 2010, playing Alto Saxophone and singing for the Lansing-based band, “Coolidge.” In 2012 he joined the Alternative Rock band, “Phantom Fundamental.” As rhythm guitarist and singer, Mendenall performed with them for a year, before setting out on his own in 2013. Since that time, Mendenall has performed in venues and festivals across the Midwest and has opened for nationally touring acts like James Bay, Tyler Hilton, Ryan Cabrera, Royal Teeth, and Young Rising Sons. He is an accomplished songwriter and released his debut EP, “Here to Stay” in September, 2013. His follow-up, “Somewhere Else to Be” was released in August, 2014.
