Shane McGeehan:
Born and raised in an Irish-American family in the coal country of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Shane was introduced to music in the womb. His young life was punctuated by bluegrass festivals and the rhythm of his father’s banjo, and he was dropping in on jams since before he was big enough to hold a guitar. As a teenager he took up both the upright and electric bass. In the summer of 2015 he met his band-mates in Serene Green, and dove into bluegrass bass and singing.
Seven years later, Serene Green has toured all over the US, recorded three studio albums, and shared the stage with the likes of The Del McCoury Band, The Seldom Scene, The Infamous Stringdusters, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, David Bromberg, Dan Tyminski Band, The Travelin’ McCourys, Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass, Sideline, Railroad Earth, Cabinet, and many others. The band has become an instant favorite at numerous music festivals, winning over audiences at festival such as DelFest, Grey Fox and Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival.
In 2023, Shane started another chapter of his career and released his first solo project on Patuxent Records, Your Love For Me Is Gold. In this project, Shane showcases his own compositions, while continuing on his search to reproduce “that sound” created by artists such as Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, and others who helped create the foothold of bluegrass music.
