Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Corrie Lynn Green writes and reflects the secrets and stories of life in a small holler town. Drawing from her deep roots in rural Appalachia, she walks down a path of self discovery through personal heartbreak, rebellion, hardship, joy and acceptance, Corrie Lynn stays true to the strength and grit that defines her personal story and others living the mountain way.
Growing up, Corrie Lynn listened to all genres of music including the Beatles, The Byrds, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Grateful Dead, Michael Jackson, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Beastie Boys, Nancy Griffin, Dolly Parton, A Tribe Called Quest and N.W.A.
After her mom married a bluegrass musician when Corrie Lynn was 14, the family moved to a small house at the base of Shenandoah National Park. There her stepfather hosted a bluegrass jam every Friday night where Corrie Lynn quietly listened to music and stories from the land and heard the Gospel. At the age of 16, Corrie Lynn, still quietly (or secretly) started writing her own songs.
At some point in her young adult life during a walkabout, she discovered a broken down abandoned, handmade, clawhammer banjo and slowly taught herself to pluck a couple of chords.
At the age of 40, Corrie Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer. After this diagnosis she became more serious about writing, playing and singing with what has become known as her very engaging, signature voice. At this time she continues to ride the waves of this very fast moving musical current.
As an emerging artist in the music world, Corrie Lynn is continuing to receive national recognition, including placing third in the 2022 Tucson Folk Festival songwriting competition.
In 2022, she received a grant from the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Arts Council of the Valley to perform her Appalachian story locally on stage before a sold out audience.
Working with Philadelphia music producer Doug Fearn, Corrie Lynn’s debut album Blow Away
was released in May 2022.
After listening to Corrie Lynn Green’s vocals and lyrics, you will find they cut through time and render genre obsolete.
