Baltimore’s Fractal Cat is inspired by early rock ‘n’ roll, classic soul, and psychedelia; musical influences include Buddy Holly, early Pink Floyd, and John Coltrane, while lyrical inspirations range from Blake to Buddha. The band is currently promoting Lovingkind, its second album of all-original material. The album track “Tryptide” was voted by WTMD Radio as one of the top 14 Baltimore songs of 2014. Fractal Cat has performed with local, regional, and national talent including Consider the Source, Trevor Hall, HuDost, Telesma, Deaf Scene, Arbouretum, and many more.
“It’s not every day you find a band that reminds you of one of the greatest groups in musical history and you’re not turned off by that fact. But Baltimore-based Fractal Cat does exactly that, creating a distinctly late Beatles-esque flavor with their very own twist of psychedelic juice.” -Appalachian Jamwich magazine
“[Fractal Cat] show the clear influence of the British invasion sound, still relevant more than a half-century later.” – The Washington Times
“As fun as it is pleasant, as expansive as it is simple, Lovingkind makes no apologies for being what it is. And what it is is a fantastic showcase for a fantastic band. -The Frederick News-Post
