“James Margolis is a unique musician. He is a guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist..” – theloaferonline.com
James Margolis is a Brooklyn based musician with roots in the Philadelphia area. James played a couple of instruments before finally landing on the guitar and falling in love with music. He enrolled at Berklee College of Music in 2008, but left after three semesters. After cutting his teeth on the Philadelphia live music scene, he moved to NYC in 2012 and quickly began assimilating himself into the open mic circuit. He has been a member of many bands since, most notably playing guitar, singing and writing in the Travelers.
James has played countless shows at venues in NYC and has traveled to play shows all around the eastern seaboard. He honed his chops playing every Friday night with the Travelers in Manhattan’s Upper East Side throughout 2016. They have been hosting a jam session called The Healing in Brooklyn for over two years now.
In addition to being a musician, James is a sound engineer, having worked the soundboard regularly at multiple venues around NYC. He also engineered and produced two albums in 2017 for his own band the Travelers, and for good friends Carissa & the Voodoo Lillies. He currently continues to play shows and write songs, with no sign of stopping any time soon.
