Rockygrass 2013 “Best New Band”
“The Railsplitters embody two of my favorite musical elements: high quality musicianship and great original songs. They use both to make them, without a doubt, one of the best bluegrass bands to emerge in the last few years.” -Andy Hall, The Infamous Stringdusters
“That high, lonesome sound has rarely sounded better.” – Jeff Burger, No Depression
Boulder CO’s, The Railsplitters, head into 2017 with an impressive tour as special guests for Yonder Mountain String Band, earning thousands of new fans, who are charmed by the “unconventional bluegrass” that earned them the title of “Best New Band” at the 2013 Rockygrass Best New Band competition.
Having went on their first national tour in 2014, The Railsplitters’ staple of highly melodic songwriting is composed by all 5 members and sung by lead singer Lauren Stovall, whose jazzy, songbird-like, vocal leaps from note to note with a ton of emotional conviction. It has helped build an enviable entertainment resume that includes tours of the UK and Europe (twice,) a spot on Spotify’s official Indie Bluegrass playlist (totally organically,) and bookings at many major bluegrass festivals including Delfest, Grey Fox, Green River Festival, Salmon Jam, multiple appearances at Rockygrass and more. In addition to its tour with Yonder Mountain String Band, The Railsplitters have also opened for The Steeldrivers, Sierra Hull, Noam Pikelny of Punch Brothers, Aoife O’Donovan, Milkdrive, Trout Steak Revival, Dustbowl Revival, Front Country and many others.
The Railsplitters are pushing the genre forward with an adventurous spirit, carrying in the tradition of breaking boundaries with their innovative sound.
