The Shroom Pickers is a freshly sprouted patch of rootless dung-lovers, specializing in off-kilter country-folk music for the bemushroomed yokel and cosmopolitan cowperson alike. Founded by guitarist/songwriter Miles Gannett of Baltimore’s Fractal Cat, the trio also features Fractal Cat’s Sean Finn on fiddle and French horn, and Ahren Buchheister on pedal steel and dobro. The Pickers’ inspirations include Townes Van Zandt, the Holy Modal Rounders, and the Incredible String Band, and their material ranges from Gannett’s original songs to “shroomgrass” covers.
